The two-day Media Training Workshop organized by CIRDDOC in collaboration with CYDI and JRI brought together journalists from Imo and Benue States to strengthen their capacity in reporting Conflict-Related Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV).

The training focused on understanding the root causes of SGBV, its human rights implications, and the critical role journalists play in its prevention. Participants explored how ethical, human angle and survivor-centered storytelling can amplify voices, shift harmful norms, and promote accountability. The capacity building workshop also deepened participants understanding of human rights and legal frameworks against SGBV, and further exposed them to the skills for practicing conflict-sensitive, ethical, and gender-responsive reporting. Through real-life case studies and interactive sessions, journalists committed to upholding human dignity, fairness, and ensuring that survivors are heard and protected.
With support from the Ford Foundation, together we are strengthening capacity and oversight on the use of human rights principles in preventing Conflict-Related SGBV across Benue and Imo States.
